Systinet Launches 'Blizzard' Governance Platform
Monday 30 January 2006Systinet today announced the immediate availability of Systinet 2 SOA governance and management platform
Systinet has unveiled its next-generation foundation for SOA governance, which provides a “system of record” for SOA and an integrated suite of applications for establishing the visibility, trust and control. The platform, orginally called 'Blizzard,' is now branded as Systinet 2, and extends the vendor's registry technology with an SOA repository and a set of governance applications. The product provides capabilities for publishing, discovering and reusing services; creating and enforcing policies; negotiating contracts between service providers and consumers; and managing changes to services without disrupting business processes. The new platform consists of Systinet Registry 6.5, Policy Manager 2.0, Contract Manager 2.0, Information Manager 2.0, and the Governance Interoperability Framework (GIF). Leading companies, including Lockheed Martin and Dow Corning, have already invested in Systinet 2 as their foundation for SOA governance and lifecycle management. On January 9, 2006, Mercury announced its intention to acquire Systinet Corporation.
Together, the Systinet 2 applications prepare organizations with a scalable platform for SOA governance, accelerating business agility and service reuse without sacrificing IT control or predictability, the vendor said. Systinet 2 is designed to enable organizations to drive revenues and control costs, while guarding against SOA chaos and ensuring implementations can scale.
"“Without visibility, trust and control an SOA will become chaotic and unmanageable," said Frank Kenney, Principal Research Analyst, Gartner, Inc. "Companies need to ensure that all Web services are based on approved policies and contracts as well as being organized, managed and visible. In order for there to be reuse of services within an SOA and for companies to manage change adeptly, governance is essential.”
"
"“SOA cannot scale and deliver successful business outcomes without governance at its core,” said Tom Erickson, President and CEO, Systinet. “Our goal with Systinet 2 is to provide a foundation for SOA adoption that ensures quality and consistency of business services; promotes healthy consumer and provider relationships; and creates a trusted marketplace for service reuse. Systinet 2 safeguards against IT chaos and creates the basis for a highly scalable, enterprise-class SOA.”
