ActiveVOS Selected to Help Develop FBI’s Next Generation Identification System

Thursday 28 August 2008

Active Endpoints announced that ActiveVOS has been selected to orchestrate the FBI’s Next Generation Identification system as part of a 10-year, US$1 billion contract awarded to Lockheed Martin.

Waltham, MA, August 26, 2008 – Active Endpoints, Inc. ( www.activevos.com ), the inventor of visual orchestration systems (VOS), announced that ActiveVOS is the orchestration software selected to develop and maintain the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Next Generation Identification (NGI) System. The NGI System is a multi-modal, state-of–the-art biometrics system for use by state, local and federal authorities. The ten-year, $1 billion contract was awarded to Lockheed Martin, who will provide large systems development and integration expertise.

ActiveVOS will be used to develop services-based applications that will orchestrate parts of the NGI System to enable enhancements to fingerprint and latent print processing services and photo search capabilities, single identity management and support for new biometric identification techniques. The NGI System is expected to increase capacity, system availability and accuracy for the law enforcement community.

ActiveVOS is the first standards-based system that permits government agencies and departments to automate business processes, collaborate across IT and business boundaries, control the overall state of the business and adapt rapidly and easily to change. This all-in-one system delivers everything public sector IT professionals need to create modern services-based applications without the cost and complexity associated with traditional “stack vendors.”

"

“The selection of ActiveVOS for this important application demonstrates its suitability for the complex integrations and applications required in governmental systems,” said Mark Taber, CEO, Active Endpoints. “Developing the NGI System using rigorously standards-based business process management (BPM) and workflow capabilities meets the needs of IT in government by offering a unique combination of openness and ease of use. With ActiveVOS, governmentalapplications can be easily developed and extended in ways never before possible.”
