Parasoft SOA Quality Solution Supports Multiple Registries to Meet Quality Standards

Friday 15 February 2008

Native support announced for multiple commercial registries with Parasoft’s SOA Quality Solution. This integration enables teams to automatically execute a quality workflow and correlate quality data in context of a SOA Governance initiative.

MONROVIA, CA (February 11, 2008) -- Parasoft, a leading provider of solutions and services that deliver quality as a continuous process throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), announced today native support for multiple commercial registries with Parasoft’s SOA Quality Solution. This integration enables teams to automatically execute a quality workflow and correlate quality data in context of a SOA Governance initiative. Parasoft’s SOA Quality Solution allows teams to automatically extract the information needed to create tests for design and development policies, such as standards, compliance, security, and best practices, for Web services assets as they are defined in a registry. Teams can select a service asset and verify the associated policies, thereby ensuring interoperability and consistency.

"

"The ability to ensure that service and SOA design policies are properly and consistently addressed across the service development lifecycle is critical," said Sandra Rogers, program director for SOA, Web Services, and Integration research at IDC. "The ability to automatically test for adherence to certain policies when services are created or changed can better ensure ongoing compliance throughout the environment." Melinda Ballou, IDC's program director for Application Lifecycle Management research indicates that, "QA vendors are evolving their solutions with more focused test creation facilities for services and SOA-based applications. It is also important that they support more integrated testing capabilities across multiple phases of the more holistic SDLC."

Parasoft empowers organizations to deliver better business applications faster. We achieve this by enabling quality as a continuous process across the SDLC—not just QA. Parasoft solutions provide a foundation for producing solid functional components by exposing structural errors and preventing entire classes of errors.
Teams will be alerted when modifications impact the application, reducing the risk of change. Parasoft’s SOA solution provides an automated infrastructure that enables quality as a continuous process, allowing teams to reap the full benefits of your SOA initiative.

Users of service registries benefit from Parasoft’s SOA Quality solution support for standards. The Parasoft SOA Quality solution is capable of querying any UDDI registry from vendors such as, IBM, HP and Microsoft. Furthermore, Parasoft has created an even tighter integration with BEA's AquaLogic Enterprise Repository (ALER) and Software AG's CentraSite technology. This enables teams to automatically generate functional test cases and WSDL verification tests at the time the services are published to the registry to ensure WSDLs are compliant to best practice and organizational policies.

For example, utilizing the CentraSite technology and the Parasoft SOA Quality solution, business partners can access the service “health report” as well as an emulated stub with test data that mocks the service interactions. This “health report” is based on jointly agreed QA standards, eliminating the finger pointing that can occur during integration activities. This process visibility facilitates continuous process improvement through the SDLC, increasing productivity and reducing cost.
